History

How we started

Wrinkled Feet was founded by Cheryl Blair in 1993. She developed a love for swimming while on her high school swim team. During her senior year in high school in 1972, Cheryl began teaching others to swim at the local pool.

After going to college, getting married, and having kids, she began teaching swimming lessons again at her mother’s pool in north Dallas in 1980.

Once she and her husband built a pool in their backyard in 1993, she really began to take teaching to a different level. Becoming a certified Water Safety Instructor (WSI), she took on more kids that summer and started Wrinkled Feet.

For the next few years, all three of Cheryl’s children joined her in teaching swimming lessons in their backyard during the summer months, taking on nearly 400 kids per summer.

Her daughter, Stacie, continues in her footsteps during the summer months to keep teaching and to keep Wrinkled Feet in the family. Now Stacie is teaching & training her girls, Jordan & Katie to continue the awesomeness of this amazing life skill. Now this same pool has now provided a place for thousands of kids to learn to swim.
